Singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is expected to face murder charges related to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to reports from FOX LA and Yahoo Entertainment, a grand jury in Los Angeles is moving toward an indictment following new evidence presented by prosecutors. Rivas Hernandez’s body was discovered in September inside the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke. The vehicle had been impounded after being towed from the Hollywood Hills.
Authorities believe the teen was dismembered with assistance from others. The grand jury heard testimony from several witnesses, including Robert Morgenroth, Burke’s manager and record label executive. Morgenroth reportedly testified about the singer’s activities in August 2025, and prosecutors allege that Burke, along with an accomplice, dismembered Rivas Hernandez’s body before hiding it in the car.
The case has shifted from circumstantial to forensic evidence, with prosecutors using details such as matching tattoos on Burke and Rivas Hernandez to establish their relationship. The tattoos, reading “Shhh,” are visible in Burke’s music videos and social media posts. Rivas Hernandez was reported missing from Lake Elsinore in April 2024, and her family claimed she was seeing a boyfriend named “David” before she disappeared.
If the grand jury indicts Burke, he will be taken into custody immediately. The exact charges will remain confidential until his arraignment. Burke’s legal team has dismissed the tattoo connection as a coincidence, but the grand jury’s decision could have significant implications for the young artist’s career, which has been on hold since the discovery of Rivas Hernandez’s body.
