In Van Buren, Arkansas, Tammi Hamby, 59, was arrested on Wednesday (December 3) for allegedly staging the kidnapping of her disabled daughter. Hamby, the wife of a doctor, faces felony charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person. Authorities claim she orchestrated the fake kidnapping to teach her 22-year-old daughter a lesson after the daughter was groomed online by someone pretending to be country singer Luke Bryan.
According to arrest affidavits cited by KHBS, Hamby enlisted the help of three friends to carry out the plan. The daughter, who is developmentally delayed, was found by Crawford County police deputies on November 17 tied to a tree in a field with zip-tied wrists. The police responded to reports of a kidnapping and discovered the young woman with marks on her wrists, indicating the severity of the situation.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the unusual and dangerous method Hamby allegedly used to address her daughter’s online interactions. As the legal process unfolds, Hamby will face serious charges that could result in significant legal consequences. The community and legal authorities are closely monitoring the case as it progresses.
