Ritz Crackers Recalled Over Life-Threatening Risk Due To Mislabeling

Mondelēz Global LLC has issued a recall for 70 cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches due to a labeling error that poses a serious risk to individuals with peanut allergies. The recall affects products distributed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Alabama. The issue arose from a mix-up where peanut butter crackers were mistakenly labeled as cheese crackers inside the boxes.

The recall involves only one specific Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) and two code dates that were previously recalled in July. According to the FDA, this action is not an expansion of the prior recall but is being conducted out of an abundance of caution. The affected products are clearly labeled on the outer cartons with a statement indicating they contain peanuts, but the internal mislabeling could lead to severe allergic reactions.

Mondelēz Global LLC, which announced the recall on November 28, has not received any reports of injuries or illnesses related to this issue. The company advises consumers with peanut allergies to discard the affected products and contact them for more information. The recall has been conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Consumers can reach out to Mondelēz Global LLC at 1-844-366-1171, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, for further assistance.
