Tree Trimmer Dies After 35-Foot Fall in Canoga Park

A tragic accident occurred in Canoga Park, when a 44-year-old tree trimmer died after falling 35 feet and being impaled on a 10-foot iron fence. The incident happened on Monday around 3:20 p.m. at the 7400 block of Canoga Avenue, near Valerio Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

The man was trimming a palm tree when he fell, and fire officials confirmed that the fall rendered him beyond medical help. An LAFD Urban Search and Rescue team was deployed to recover his body using a high-angle rope system. To preserve the dignity of the deceased, the body was covered by a sheet and shielded from public view by a tarp.

The cause of the fall remains unknown, but aerial footage showed palm trees swaying in gusty winds, raising questions about weather conditions as a potential factor. The victim’s identity has not been released, and the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office will take responsibility for the body.

KTLA reported that L.A. Mayor Karen Bass’ Crisis Response Team was also on the scene to provide emotional support to the victim’s coworkers. No further details have been released about the incident.
