Stunning Miss Universe Contestant’s Death Metal Singing Goes Viral

A stunning pageant contestant has gone viral for performing a death metal song at the Miss World Chile talent competition last week.

Ignacia Fernández, 27, the lead singer for the band ‘Decessus,‘ was joined onstage by the band’s guitarist, Carlos Palma, and unleashed growls and guttural screams while dressed in a gown and sash. Fernández, who represented the Las Condes region in Santiago, received a standing ovation and placed in the Top 20 finalists.

“Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose,” Fernandez wrote in a translated Instagram post that included a clip of her performance. “Being able to express it on stage at @chilevision and @misschilemundo was an opportunity I deeply value. It was a great experience to break down barriers on open television, inspire, be real with it and show that you don’t have to fear the prejudices of others.

“Thanks to my band @carlospalmaofficial and @decessus_official for accompanying me and to everyone who has shown their support 🤘❤️ horns up.”

Miss World Chile is a national pageant that selects representatives for both the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions, with the talent portion coinciding with traditional categories. Footage of Fernández’s performance went viral on social media with numerous users praising her for challenging the traditional beauty pageant standards.

“Finally someone breaks down stereotypes about what is feminine,” one user wrote, according to News.com.au.

“Very inspiring seeing a metal girl in the pageant world,” another wrote.

“Proof you can be gorgeous and feminine but still metal,” a third user commented.

“First time being interested in a beauty contest,” another user posted.

Fernandez will compete in the Miss Chile pageant finals on Sunday (November 9).
