Suspect, Agent Injured When Gunfire Erupts During Federal Operation

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A suspect was shot and wounded and a federal agent was also injured during an investigation in South Los Angeles Tuesday.

The shooting was reported about 8:30 a.m. in the 400 block of East 20th Street, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Public Affairs Officer Luis Alanis.

According to a broadcast report, the shooting happened when a suspect tried to ram federal agents with a vehicle.

Both the suspect and a federal agent were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported that the agent sustained a hand wound.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were “providing outer perimeter traffic control at the scene of a federal investigation,” according to social media posting from the department that said no LAPD officers were involved in the operation.
