Man Who’s Fostered 20 Kids Arrested After Border Agents Searched His Phone

Jason Alan Miller, a 48-year-old man from Kingsport, Tennessee, was arrested at PortMiami on Saturday (September 13) after authorities discovered child pornography on his phone during a random secondary inspection. Miller, who has fostered around 20 children over the past seven years, was returning from a Carnival Horizon cruise to the Cayman Islands with his pregnant wife and eight children, seven of whom he adopted after fostering them.

During the inspection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers searched Miller’s Samsung Galaxy phone after he voluntarily provided the passcode. According to an affidavit, officers found multiple images of child sexual abuse material stored in a folder named “6yo_rare” within the Google Photos app. Miller admitted to knowing about the illicit content on his device.

Miller was charged with possession and transportation of child pornography. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison. He is currently being held in the Broward County Jail.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in protecting children. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of Miller’s activities.
