Police Seek Driver in Fatal Chatsworth Hit-and-Run

Police are actively searching for the driver responsible for intentionally striking and killing 39-year-old Victor Cocolotta in Chatsworth. On September 3, Los Angeles police responded to reports of a body found near Lassen Street and Canoga Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cocolotta lying on a driveway with multiple traumatic injuries, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to KTLA, detectives believe Cocolotta was intentionally struck by a vehicle that fled the area. Surveillance footage and evidence collected at the scene support this theory. However, detectives noted that Cocolotta may have sustained additional injuries from an undetermined cause. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed his identity but has not disclosed his place of residence, listing the official cause of death as “deferred” pending further investigation.

The suspect or suspects involved remain at large, and the motive behind Cocolotta’s death is still unclear. The Los Angeles Police Department is canvassing the area for witnesses, evidence, and additional surveillance footage. They urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division at 818-374-9550. Calls outside business hours can be directed to 877-527-3247, and anonymous tips can be submitted through L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
