Los Angeles police are searching for 24-year-old Sierra Whittaker, who is suspected of causing a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed 25-year-old Emerson Gonzalez-Escobar. The crash occurred on July 5, just after 9 p.m., at the intersection of 91st Street and South Figueroa. Whittaker was reportedly driving a white Porsche Panamera at nearly 100 miles per hour when she collided with Gonzalez-Escobar, who was waiting to make a left turn.
According to ABC7, Whittaker and her two passengers were seen on cellphone video retrieving belongings from the car after the crash. They did not assist Gonzalez-Escobar, which has left his family devastated. LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno stated that Whittaker, who is known to frequent Las Vegas and Orange County, could face a murder charge.
The LAPD is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Whittaker’s arrest. Detective Moreno emphasized the importance of public assistance in bringing justice to Gonzalez-Escobar’s family, saying, “We really appreciate the public’s help, and Emerson’s family would appreciate it too.”
