Abandoned Dogs in Watts Park Worry Residents

Residents of Watts are expressing concern after discovering three abandoned dogs roaming Watts Towers Park on the 10600 block of Graham Avenue. The dogs have been in the park for over two weeks, enduring the scorching Southern California sun. Sharlin Romero, a local resident, has been sharing videos of the dogs online, hoping to find help for them.

Romero and her neighbors have been providing food and water to the dogs, which are believed to be German Shepherd mixes. Despite their efforts, the dogs continue to wait for their owner to return. “It’s been almost two weeks, over two weeks now and they’re here in the sun, hot,” Romero told NBC Los Angeles. “We try our best to give them food and water but it really just describes how canines are loyal to their owners.”

One of the dogs, possibly a senior, has shown signs of illness, with Romero noting that it has been vomiting and might be dehydrated. She and other residents have reached out to local shelters for assistance but have not yet received a response.

As the community continues to care for the dogs, they hope to find a more permanent solution for the animals’ well-being. Anyone interested in helping can contact local animal services.
