LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A search was underway for two missing young brothers who left their foster parents’ Westlake District apartment early this morning to and are believed to be with their biological mother.
The boys, 10 and 2, were reported missing at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Officer Rosario Cervantes.
The boys, 2-year old Derek Rodriguez and 10-year-old Jaden Hernandez, were the subject of an Amber Alert issued by the California Highway Patrol this morning.
The younger child was described as 2 feet tall, 20 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark T-shirt and dark pants. His brother is 4 feet tall, 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be wearing black pants and a black shirt.
Their biological mother, Jackeline Hernandez Torres, 30, is 5 feet tall, weighs 120 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a light-colored hoodie and dark sweatpants when last seen. She is believed to be driving a black 2008 PT Cruiser with Indiana license plate DFT105.
Officers had searched for the boys in the 300 block of Virgil Avenue, Cervantes told City News Service.
A police dog was earlier reported to be assisting in the search south of the Westlake District, in the Vermont Square area, the location of the biological mother’s last known address, which was in an RV, according to a broadcast report from outside the Westlake apartment building where the foster parents and boys live.
Anyone who spots the vehicle, the suspect or the children was urged to immediately call 911.
