Lawyer Claims Missing Baby’s Parents Are Cooperating with Police

According to the attorney who represents the father of Emmanuel Haro, a seven-month-old boy who disappeared in Yucaipa on Thursday, both the mother and father are cooperating with law enforcement, despite claims from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department that the parents stopped cooperating after inconsistencies in their statements.

Vincent Hughes, the attorney for Emmanuel’s father, Jake Haro, insists the family is working with investigators. Hughes explained that Rebecca Haro, Emmanuel’s mother, refused a polygraph test, which is not admissible in court.

Emmanuel vanished after Rebecca reported being attacked and knocked unconscious while changing his diaper in a parking lot. When she awoke, Emmanuel was gone. The Sheriff’s Department has not named any suspects but cannot rule out foul play. Authorities have searched the family’s Cabazon home, seizing electronics and reviewing surveillance footage.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jake Haro has a criminal history, having been convicted of child cruelty in 2023. However, Hughes maintains this case is separate from Emmanuel’s disappearance.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is aware of a reported sighting of Emmanuel in Kern County, though details are scarce. Meanwhile, the Uvalde Foundation for Kids has challenged the Haro family to rejoin search efforts, offering protection and support.

As the investigation continues, the Haro family remains under scrutiny, with public opinion turning against them. Hughes emphasizes that the parents are focused on finding their son and have not been charged with any crime.
