American Journalist Found After Going Missing While Hiking In Norway

Alec Luhn, a 38-year-old American journalist, has been found alive in Norway’s Folgefonna National Park after going missing during a solo hike. Luhn, originally from Wisconsin, was discovered by emergency teams near a glacier in an area without cell service. His mother, Sarah Marie Luhn, expressed relief, stating, “Alec is alive! Something is wrong with his leg, but otherwise, he’s in good health. Thank God!”

Luhn, a climate journalist and University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate, went missing after sending a text and photo to his wife, Veronika Silchenko, from the park on Thursday. Concerns grew when he missed his flight back to England on Monday, where he and Silchenko reside. His parents, who had been vacationing with him in Norway, were also worried when they couldn’t reach him.

Norwegian Emergency Search and Rescue teams conducted an extensive search despite challenging weather and terrain conditions in the national park, known for its glaciers. Luhn has been airlifted to a hospital in Bergen for medical care and will soon reunite with his wife.
