President Donald Trump publicly criticized some of his own supporters who are demanding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. In a Truth Social post on Wednesday (July 16), Trump called these supporters “weaklings” and accused them of falling for what he termed the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax.”
“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this “b*******,” hook, line, and sinker. They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years,” Trump wrote.
He expressed frustration with those who continue to focus on Epstein, stating he no longer wants their support.
“Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!” he continued.
The controversy centers around the Justice Department’s decision not to release additional documents related to Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died by suicide in prison in 2019. Trump’s administration, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, has faced backlash for not disclosing more records. Trump defended Bondi, saying she has provided all credible information available.
The issue has caused a rift within the Republican Party, with some members, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, calling for more transparency.
Democrats have seized on the division within the GOP, using procedural tools to push for a vote on releasing the documents. However, efforts to compel the release have so far failed due to a lack of Republican support.
