Pasadena Humane Waives Adoption Fees to Ease Shelter Crowding

Pasadena Humane has launched a summer adoption campaign to address shelter overcrowding by waiving adoption fees for adult cats and dogs. The “Hot Dog & Cool Cat” promotion, running through July 20, aims to find permanent homes for pets six months or older during one of the busiest times of the year for animal shelters.

According to KTLA, the shelter is currently caring for nearly 150 adoptable cats and dogs, many of whom have arrived recently. The initiative, funded by the Pet Care Foundation and supported by a grant from the Georgia B. Ridder Foundation, hopes to increase adoptions and alleviate pressure on staff and facilities.

Marissa Sunny, Senior Director of Placement at Pasadena Humane, expressed excitement about the campaign, stating, “We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity for our community to adopt a loving companion at no cost.” Despite the waived fees, Pasadena Humane will maintain its standard screening process to ensure pets are matched with appropriate homes. All adopted animals will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before going home.

The shelter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and adoptions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. More information, including a list of available pets, can be found on their website.
