The recent protests over ICE enforcement raids across Southern California have affected hundreds of local businesses, especially in downtown Los Angeles.
Not only did ICE enforcment operations have many employees of these businesses fearful to show up for work, but demonstrations and unrest in some areas caused some to suffer physical damage to their locations. Others had no choice to shut down temporarily because a curfew imposed by Mayor Bass greatly affected their customer flow.
Yesterday, in downtown Los Angeles, many shops reopened after a weekend of closures, but the area still shows signs of damage with the fashion district and Little Tokyo particular affected by vandalism. KFI’s Michael Monks was in the area yesterday and took some photos which you can see below.
Customer activity in the area remains low, with only a few people seen, such as those at food carts and business owners are unsure how long it will take to recover.
