Residents in the Larchmont neighborhood of Los Angeles are expressing frustration over the constant fireworks being set off in their area. Although the Fourth of July is still a month away, fireworks have become a daily occurrence, with the first one on Tuesday going off as early as 7:22 a.m. Locals describe the situation as persistent and dangerous, raising concerns about safety and noise.
The issue of illegal fireworks is not isolated to Larchmont. Recently, a massive stockpile of over 100,000 pounds of illegal fireworks was seized in Commerce, California. According to a report by Whittier Daily News, the seizure was part of a joint investigation by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Office of the State Fire Marshal (CAL FIRE-OSFM) and federal authorities. This operation highlights the ongoing problem of illegal fireworks, which pose significant risks, especially during the summer holiday season.
Authorities urge residents to report any suspicious activity related to fireworks, emphasizing that illegal fireworks contribute to wildfires, property damage, and personal injuries each year. As the Fourth of July approaches, CAL FIRE is calling for responsible celebrations and increased vigilance in communities.
