Residents Concerned Over Mysterious Bird Deaths

Residents of Richmond, California are alarmed by a mysterious phenomenon where birds are dying at an alarming rate. More than 50 birds have reportedly fallen from a specific stretch of power line, causing distress among locals. “It’s very traumatic,” resident Maximilian Bolling shared with ABC News.

The situation has drawn attention after security cameras captured footage of a bird falling to its death from a power line with a loud pop. According to the Daily Mail, necropsies on two birds, a mourning dove and a European starling, suggested trauma from a pellet gun, BB gun, or slingshot rather than electrocution. However, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has not determined the exact cause of trauma for all the birds.

Residents, including Sharon Anderson, describe the events as “just horrifying.” The California State Department of Fish and Wildlife has launched an investigation into the bird deaths. Some locals suspect the power lines owned by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) might be involved. However, PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian stated that an investigation found no evidence linking their power lines to the deaths. The company confirmed that the power pole in question meets avian safe guidelines.
