LA Fleet Week Returns to Honor U.S. Military

Fleet Week is set to return to the Port of Los Angeles from Friday (May 23) to Monday (May 26), marking a significant celebration honoring the U.S. military. This year, the event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Merchant Marines, all established in 1775.

According to the Port of Los Angeles, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the arrival of active-duty military ships and participate in free public tours throughout the weekend. The event will be held on the LA Waterfront and is expected to draw large crowds, as it is the largest Memorial Day weekend event in Los Angeles.

LA Fleet Week is not just about the ships and servicemembers; it also includes various activities and events that focus on community resiliency and disaster preparedness. As noted on the LA Fleet Week website, the celebration will feature neighborhood activations from Wednesday (May 21) to Saturday (May 24), followed by public tours and an expo from Friday (May 23) to Monday (May 26).

The event is free and open to the public, providing a family-friendly environment with plenty of activities for all ages. Kenneth T. Hagihara of the Pacific Battleship Center emphasized the importance of this event in bringing the community together to honor the nation’s Sea Services.
