Two Bodies Found In Rubble Of Suspicious Home Explosion

A devastating house explosion in Washington Township, New Jersey, which killed two people, is now considered intentional, according to police. The incident occurred early Sunday (May 11), around 2 a.m., when neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion that destroyed a home near Orion Way and Tranquility Court.

Law enforcement officials have launched a criminal investigation into the incident, believing it was not accidental. The Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office is working with local authorities to determine the cause of the fire, which reduced the house to rubble. The identities of the deceased, a man and a woman, have not been released, pending an autopsy report from the county coroner’s office.

Surveillance footage captured the intense flames that engulfed the home. Although neighbors described hearing an explosion, officials believe the loud sounds may have occurred after the fire had already started. Neighbor Jimmy Gibson described the noise as “a real loud boom,” while Suzanne Pinto said it “sounded like a bomb went off.”

The fire also damaged a nearby house and melted a car in the driveway. Investigators are still piecing together the events leading up to the explosion and are waiting for autopsy results before releasing more details.
