A 7.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Argentina on Friday (May 2), according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake was centered in Ushuaia at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles). The USGS said it received one report of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

The Macquarie Island earthquake was reported hours after a 4.7-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered near Hope at a depth of 40.5 kilometers (about 25.2 miles).
