Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts was absent from the team’s White House visit on Monday (April 28) due to a “scheduling conflict,” NBC News White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor reports.
“A White House official confirms to me that @Eagles quarterback @JalenHurts will not be visiting the White House when the Super Bowl champions come later this afternoon. The White House says Hurts and other players who can’t attend had ‘scheduling conflicts,'” Alcindor wrote on her X account.
Hurts had previously responded “umm,” before going silent when asking if he planned on visiting the White House while walking the red carpet for the TIME 100 Most Influential People of 2025 event last week.
Hurts threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 17 of 22 passing, while also recording 72 yards and one touchdown on 11 rushing attempts to be named Super Bowl LIX MVP during the Eagles’ win against the Kansas City Chiefs in February. The two-time Pro Bowler scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter to give Philadelphia a 7-0 lead, which they extended to 24-0 at halftime and 34-0 deep into the third quarter.
The Eagles are now two-time Super Bowl champions, having won Super Bowl LII in 2018 and made five appearances, which included a loss to the Chiefs two years prior in Super Bowl LVII.
