In a startling incident in Barton County, Kansas, a babysitter discovered a man hiding under a child’s bed while checking for “monsters” on Monday (March 24) night. The babysitter was trying to reassure the child when she found Martin Villalobos Jr., 27, hiding under the bed, according to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.
An altercation occurred between Villalobos and the babysitter, during which one child was knocked over. Villalobos fled the scene before deputies arrived. He was previously ordered to stay away from the residence due to a protection-from-abuse order. The next morning, deputies spotted Villalobos in the area and arrested him after a brief foot chase.
Villalobos faces multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, and violation of a protection order. He is being held on a $500,000 bond. It is unclear if he has retained a lawyer.
The relationship between Villalobos and the residents of the home has not been disclosed.
