Congressman Al Green Removed From Trump’s Address To Congress

Texas Rep. Al Green (D) was removed from the House Chamber during President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress.

On Tuesday (March 4), Green was escorted out of the chamber as he stood in protest to Trump’s speech to lawmakers.

Trump began his speech touting the “accomplishments” of his administration, garnering applause and “USA” chants from Republican lawmakers and boos from Democrats. Green stood in the aisle and waved his cane at the president in protest of the speech.

In an apparent aim at Democratic Congress members, Speaker Mike Johnson warned lawmakers to maintain “decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions.”

Chaos continued to erupt on the House floor, delaying Trump’s speech.

Johnson addressed the chamber again, saying, “Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of the quorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the Sergeant at Arms to restore order to the joint session.” He then ordered Green to sit down, to which the Democrat refused.

Green was ultimately taken out of the chamber by the House Sergeant at Arms.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
