7-Year-Old Found Dead in Freezer; Mother Arrested for Murder

A tragic discovery was made on Tuesday night in Lynwood, California, when authorities found the body of a 7-year-old boy inside a freezer at an apartment on Euclid Avenue. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for a welfare check and uncovered the grim scene. The child’s mother, 25-year-old Destiny Harrison, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Additionally, the boy’s father, Daniel Monzon, and grandmother, Ana Zarceno-Carcamo, have been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn released a statement expressing her condolences and support for the investigation. “This is an unimaginable and horrific tragedy,” Hahn stated. “My heart breaks for what the other children in this home must have experienced.”

Three other children, aged 9 months, 13, and 16, were found in the apartment and have been taken into protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The cause of the child’s death has not yet been revealed, and his name is being withheld.

NBC Los Angeles reported that neighbors were shocked by the news, with one neighbor, Christian Torres, stating, “You wouldn’t expect for that person to do something like that.”

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
