7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Reported

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake was reported in Burma on Friday (March 28), according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered in Mandalay at a depth of 10 kilometers (about six miles). The USGS said it received 1,401 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Burma minutes later, according to the United States Geological Survey. The USGS said it received 83 reports of people having felt the aftershock at the time of publication.

Many are feared to have died in relation to the earthquake, which includes three after a mosque collapsed, with the death toll expected to rise, according to CNN.
