A 4.9-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Saturday (May 17), according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered along Sand Point at a depth of 35.0 kilometers (about 21.8 miles). The USGS said it received one report of a person having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

The Alaska earthquake was reported days after a 3.6-magnitude earthquake was reported in Kansas on Thursday (May 15), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Herington at a depth of 9.3 kilometers (about 5.8 miles).

The Kansas earthquake was reported two days after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake was reported in Greece on Tuesday (May 13), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Fry at a depth of 74 kilometers (about 46 miles).

The Greece earthquake took place hours before a 6.4-magnitude earthquake was reported in Tonga on Wednesday (May 14), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Neiafu at a depth of 243.1 kilometers (about 151 miles).

The Tonga earthquake was reported days after a 5.6-magnitude earthquake was reported in China last Sunday (May 11), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Rikaze at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).
