Three 11-year-old girls from Kent, Washington, saved their six-year-old neighbor from an attempted kidnapping. The Kent Police Department said that the three girls were walking to an ice cream truck when they saw the young girl being led away by a man they did not recognize.
The girls turned on their phones and started recording as they confronted the man. He claimed he knew the young girl, but she shook her head in denial. The man then let the girl and fled the area. The three girls then walked the younger girl back to her apartment.
Another bystander saw what happened and called 911. When officers arrived, they located the suspect and took him into custody following a brief chase.
“The little girl is now safe, the man is in jail, and we are impressed beyond words at the maturity and protectiveness displayed by these preteen girls. Without their intervention, the excellent description of the suspect from the 911 caller, and the swift response by multiple KPD Officers, the outcome would have changed dramatically,” the department wrote on Facebook.
The 40-year-old suspect, who was not identified, was charged with kidnapping and booked into the King County jail.
