Detectives are investigating the tragic death of a 2-month-old boy who was found not breathing at a home in Lancaster. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 44000 block of Beech Avenue at 8:19 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a report of a child not breathing. According to a watch commander at the department’s Lancaster station, paramedics arrived at the scene at 8:21 a.m. but did not transport anyone to the hospital. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
While the case is not currently being treated as a homicide, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau has been requested to investigate, as they routinely handle infant and unexplained deaths. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, and investigators remained at the home late into Sunday morning to determine what led to the incident.
