15-Year-Old Faces Felony Charges After Smashing Police Car With A Shovel

A 15-year-old girl named Amy Chance has been arrested in Port St. Lucie, Florida, after allegedly attacking a police cruiser with a shovel on Monday (November 3). According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call at a home on Bartell Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Chance standing in the street with a shovel.

Body camera footage shows Chance allegedly striking the police vehicle multiple times, causing over $1,200 in damages. Officers ordered her to drop the shovel and get on the ground. She complied after officers pointed stun guns at her, and she was subsequently handcuffed and taken into custody without incident.

Chance now faces a felony charge of criminal mischief due to the extent of the damage caused to the police cruiser. The Port St. Lucie Police Department emphasized that intentional damage to property will result in arrest, regardless of age. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed why police were initially called to the home or what prompted Chance to attack the vehicle.
