A 10-year-old girl and her father were stabbed during an altercation in Sun Valley on Wednesday evening, with a suspect now in custody, authorities confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the 7600 block of Claybeck Avenue, near San Fernando Road, around 9:45 p.m. after a fight broke out between the suspect and the girl’s father.
During the confrontation, both the father and his 10-year-old daughter suffered stab wounds. The circumstances of how the child became involved in the attack remain under investigation.
Emergency responders transported both victims to a local hospital. Officials report that the girl and her father are expected to recover from their injuries.
Police detained the suspect at the scene. Witnesses observed the individual handcuffed to a stretcher while being loaded into an ambulance, suggesting the suspect may have also sustained injuries during the incident.
This incident follows other recent stabbing incidents in the San Fernando Valley area, though authorities have not indicated any connection between these cases.
