A Powerball ticket worth $1,378,451 was sold at a 76 gas station in Sherman Oaks, despite no jackpot winner in Monday night’s drawing. The ticket matched all numbers except the Powerball number. According to the California Lottery website, the winning numbers were 8, 23, 25, 40, 53, and the Powerball number was 5.
While the jackpot remains unclaimed, it has increased to $1.3 billion for the next drawing on Wednesday. This ranks as the fifth largest in Powerball history and the ninth largest among U.S. lottery jackpots. Players have the option to choose between an annuitized prize of $1.3 billion or a lump sum of $589 million before taxes.
In addition to the Los Angeles winner, million-dollar tickets were sold in Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Two tickets in Montana and North Carolina each won $2 million.
